For those who don't know me...

 

I'm John B. I live in Melbourne's south-east suburbs and I'm a DJ. Back when I started around 12 years ago I was mainly mixing drum and bass records and a bit of breaks and hip hop. I found like minded friends and started making contacts. I started getting the odd gig in my hometown of Brighton U.K.

But then in the mid 2000's, I took advantage of an awesome new digital vinyl system (Serato) that then meant I could play any type of music that I had on my laptop, being controlled by my turntables.  This got me playing all kinds of songs and learning tricks and mixes to mash different styles together. In my last year in Brighton I started working on a radio station, I had a  show every other Friday night for a few months.

In 2010, I arrived here in Melbourne Australia and after playing at a few parties and the odd gig here and there,  I started working for a mobile DJ company where I self trained myself (with lots of research from pros) how to read the crowd of all ages and musical tastes. This took a fair bit of practice, but after lots of birthdays, engagements and weddings, word was getting around and friends of friends started booking me. So I decided it was time to go solo- and set up Jay B's Beats On The Move....
